Metro at €1.65 — one of Europe's cheapest airport connections
Any service works — the route is short and cheap by any method
One of Europe's closest airports to the city center. The drive is short and rarely affected by traffic. Lisbon's hills can make the last stretch interesting.
Fastest: Late night or early morning — roads are clear and the drive is at its shortest.
Slowest: Weekday rush hours (7–10am, 4–7pm) can add 30–60 minutes to the journey. If your flight arrives during these times, allow extra margin before onward connections.
Weekends: Generally smooth, similar to midday weekday times.
1. Clear immigration and collect your baggage. Your transfer driver is tracking your flight in real time — if it's delayed, they adjust automatically. No need to call or message.
2. Walk through Customs into the Arrivals hall. Arrivals hall near the exit — small, easy-to-navigate terminal. Drivers hold name boards near door 2.
3. Identify your driver. Look for someone holding a board with your name. Most services send the driver's name, photo, and phone number via email or app before your arrival.
4. Walk to the car. Your driver will guide you to the vehicle, usually parked in the short-stay car park (2–5 minute walk). They'll handle your luggage.
| Option | Details |
|---|---|
| Official taxi | €15–20 (metered) |
| Train / Express | Metro Red Line: €1.65, 20 min to Alameda/Saldanha |
| Budget option | Aerobus to Cais do Sodré: €4, 30 min |
| Uber / ride-hail | €8–15 |
Standard sedan: Lisbon's hilly terrain and tram lines make street-level access variable. A door-to-door transfer avoids dragging luggage up cobblestone hills.
Child seats: Welcome Pickups includes free child seats on all bookings. Kiwitaxi charges a small fee. GetTransfer and intui.travel — ask during booking.
Oversized items: Ski bags, surfboards, golf clubs, or musical instruments require larger vehicles. Mention during booking to ensure the right car is sent.
Lisbon airport is amazingly close to the center — only 7 km. The Metro (€1.65, direct connection) is hard to beat. Pre-booking only makes sense for groups, heavy luggage, or destinations outside central Lisbon (Sintra, Cascais). Uber at €6–10 is also excellent.
